So...remember that Whole 30 thing I was talking about doing?
It didn't quite work out.
In fact, it never really left the ground.
Maybe this is what happened?
The first day I was supposed to start ended up being a snow day so I was home with my boys and I did what a lot of mothers instinctively do. They had lunch, didn't finish said lunch and I ended up eating off of their plates (completely forgetting the Whole 30). It was crackers and cheese. The one day they decide to eat their fruit and leave the crackers and cheese.
The other issue was my cold. I couldn't taste a darn thing and it completely sapped my energy. The stupid thing lasted two full weeks (two full weeks of not tasting is brutal).
I've decided that I might have another go in the summer when time is a little more available for me. I thought I was prepared but nope. More preparation is definitely needed.
It has however change my way of thinking about food and I've started to make small changes in the way that we eat. I find that the biggest issue for me is time. After working all day, grabbing the boys from daycare and then having to make dinner, I don't want something that is time consuming. I want something that I can throw in the oven quickly and then go play with the boys.
I have been adding in more vegetables into our foods and I'm going to start looking more towards cutting out a lot of crap from my diet specifically, hoping it passes it's way down.
I have stopped drinking a lot of pop (and while I'm writing this I haven't had one since Monday and it's Friday) but I do allow myself the occasional one here or there. That being said, I don't buy it. If I'm at someone's house and it's there great. I haven't bought one at work in a long time and I haven't bought any at the grocery store during my weekly shopping trip.
I've been eyeing the Nom Nom Paelo cookbook and the new Inspiralized one as well and I'm wondering if I can make the food look as good as they do (as well as taste good). I think I'll stick to my Pinterest and grab recipes from there for now.
