Running Plans for 2015

I had a dismal year of running in 2014.

I didn't run a lot, I didn't sign up for a lot of races to help keep my motivated (for me paying for the race helps me keep the commitment) and I didn't really set any PRs/ In fact, I ran my second worst half marathon, coming in at a whopping, 2:52:33 (many, many minutes away from the 2:39 I was hoping to best from the Niagara Falls Half in 2013).
I got lazy and a bit out of shape again. I did have a highlight of running a sub 30:00 5k, but I only hit it twice and those were during training runs.
This year, things are going to be different.
I've already signed up for the Around the Bay 5K at the end of March and two triathlons. One is a try-a-tri and the other is a sprint triathlon. I'm hoping to sign up for one race a month from March until my big race in October at the Niagara Falls Half Marathon.
I don't think mentally I can stomach another half marathon until October. I would have loved to have done one in the spring, but after Scotiabank I decided that I needed to really build up to it.

Run Nike just announced that they're hosting an event on Toronto Island, which his similar to the half I ran in DC last year, but it's going to be a 15 k, which I can handle. I'm definitely going to put my name in for that draw.
I've also gotten my asthma under control with puffers but I've still avoided running outside. I joined the gym and try to get there at least 4 times a week. Sometimes, it's easier said than done. I'm up to 4.5 miles consecutively on the treadmill at this point, but am aiming for 5 the next time I go.
I'm also starting to 'train' for my triathlons by spending more time on the bicycle than I have in the past. Granted, it just the bike at the gym, but it's better than nothing.
This week, I'm also thinking of starting some swim training since I haven't been in a swim situation like a triathlon ever before and I could probably handle some tweaking on my front crawl. Parent and Tot swimming just doesn't cut it!
