Project 365 - Week #5

It's Week #5 of Project 365!

Still haven't broken out the manual for the camera. Still shooting on Auto.

Either way, I got some fantastic shots of the boys this week. It was a very busy week, but I managed to get my camera out everyday!

Baby #3?

No, no, no.

I'm not pregnant (as much as I'd love to be).

I always dreamed that I'd have a big family. I have 2 sisters and a brother and love kids! I never really thought I'd stop at 2 kids.

 photo DSCN2739_zps9e74265d.jpg
But that's where we're at now and just as much as I'd love to have a third child, The Husband doesn't.

I understand where he's coming from.

The boys are loud, fighting with each other and it's very, very busy and they aren't even involved in a lot of activities yet.

 photo IMG_20121018_084847_zps48953d0f.jpg
I don't miss getting up 2 or 3 times a night to feed them, I don't miss labour and delivery, I don't miss the 4 month wakeful, or ridiculous teething.

However, there are many things that I do miss.

I do miss baby snuggles, the newborn smell, I miss newborn clothes and the closeness of holding a baby. Little babies are just so cute!

We've already potty trained one so we're down to one set of diapers and that is definitely a plus.

Personally, I go back and forward in my head about this. Some days I'm alright with being done. Other days, I see pictures like this and I'd really like to try for a third. I flip-flop on a daily basis.

Those of you that have three kids, how did you come to the decision? Is it really as crazy as it's said to be?

I've lost my mojo!

I'm overly frustrated with the weather. It's so ridiculously cold, but you've heard about that.

I definitely blame it for sucking out all of my motivation to run.

Ya, sure, I tell myself, I want to run, I should run, but the weather and minus temperatures definitely don't make me feel horrible about staying put on my couch a little longer.

But I wonder how much of it is just me throwing in the towel as well.

I've seen some runners giving it a go. Granted, it's been while I was eating my lunch so the weather was much warmer than it would be when I'm able to run, but still. It makes me wonder.

I'm beginning to think I've lost my interest in running.

Running (actually, not running), consumes my mind at all times, but I've lost the motivation to really push myself.

February 2nd will be one month until my half marathon and I haven't run in 24 days. It's kind of insane that I'm planning on doing it.

Part of me wants to switch down to the 5 K and just say c'est la vie and start training to PR in Washington instead.

I honestly don't know what to do at this point.

I'm stuck. Unmotivated. Dare I say lazy?

I'm really unsure of where to go!

I need my mojo back!!!

Anyone know where to find it or have any advice?

Award Shows...Meh!!

I'm not an award show person.

I'm a reality show person, but award shows just don't hold my attention.

Initially, I'd say it's because I don't watch a lot of movies because I always fall asleep through them unless we're at the theatre. But if I went to go see them at the theatre, I'd weigh 700 lbs because I can't turn down movie theatre popcorn.

But I don't even like watching People's Choice or any kind of music awards.

I think it's the speeches.

They go on and on and on and thank so many people that aren't even there because they aren't famous enough to be allowed to attend.

I watched a little bit of the Golden Globes, but given the only movie I'd seen in the past year was The Hobbit (and for some reason none of the dwarves were nominated!) I didn't really have any clues as to what was going on.

I didn't even get a peek at the Grammy's.

However, I do love the fashion police that rip the outfits apart in the days following the event. It is by far the most enjoyable part of award season for me.

Whenever I think of horrible celebrity fashion, the Kim Kardashian curtain outfit comes to mind. It's not because of her size (mostly because I'm pretty sure I was much bigger than she ever was) but the outfit was just so wrong!

It looked like she had no arms! Everything blended in together and it was just a mess. I think a skirt or top in that pattern would be great, but an entire dress and gloves was just overkill.

Since the nominations get announced on the Entertainment news, I do know what movies were nominated for Best Picture. I now really want to see Captain Phillips. Since I haven't seen any though, I don't really have a pick for who I want to win.

Do you watch a lot of movies?

How many Best Movie nominees did you see?

Which movie do you think will win for Best Movie?

Since I'm doing Project 365, I have a whole lot of pictures. The best part about a digital camera is that you can take tons of pictures before capturing the one that you love! This also means there is a lot of outtakes. Most of them are when the boys are posing nicely and just as I push the button they move:

I'm loving doing the photo project right now. I can't wait to share the remainder of my 365 pictures with you!

This week, I swear, I'm breaking out the camera's instruction manual and doing some research on how to use my camera. Report cards are done and I have some time to do what I want and that is reading the manual and figuring out how to use this properly.

Once again I'm linking up with Nurse Loves Farmer, Simply Stavish and Behind the Camera and Dreaming to share my Project 365 pictures from the week. While you are visiting their sites, check out some of the other blogs' Project 365 pictures as well.

What I'm reading

I'm trying to keep up with reading this year. Two years ago I read 52 books, one for each week in the year. Last year, I completely sucked with my reading and didn't read much at all.

This year, I'm not going to be as ambitious, but I'm going to make sure I have a book on the go at all times. I find it helps relax me before bed and lets me use my imagination more.

Right now I'm reading Game of Thrones: Clash of Kings.

A Clash of Kings

There's about 950 pages and I'm about 730 pages in. I'm slowly getting to the end.

After that comes the third book A Storm of Swords.

I know there's a highly popular TV based around these books, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm hoping to watch it at some point but I want to be further in the books since there are so many characters to remember and keep separate.

Once I'm done with this series, I'm not sure where to go!

Do you have any recommendations for good books to read?

1 Step Closer to Washington D.C.

As you probably know, my entry into the random draw for the Nike Women's Half Marathon was chosen and I get to run 21.1 km through Washington D.C!

As the months count down, I'm so, so, so excited!!

I have another half to do before then, in March, but really my mind is completely focused on Washington. I haven't been on vacation in so long that this is a big event!

Yesterday, I moved one step closer!

Being a teacher, taking time off to go do a run somewhere was almost inconceivable. Luckily, the board and union have instituted VLAP days (or Voluntary Leave of Absence). We can take up to 5, but I just took 1 since we don't get paid for this.

I found out today that the school board accepted my day off so now we're moving onto the next step..BOOKING FLIGHTS!!

We've already had our hotel booked for quite sometime, but it doesn't cost anything to cancel a hotel so far out from the time, but canceling flights costs money. Now that I know I can take that Friday off, I'm ready to go!!

Have you ever been to Washington D.C.??

What are the best things to do?

Where are the best places to eat?

Any other fun things?

The Husband is accompanying me, but other than the 3 or 4 hours that I'm running, we're pretty much free and open! Did I mention that I'm excited?

The only issue is training because of the snow/cold, but we'll work through that!

What are you most excited about in the near future?

Eczema, Eczema, Eczema

I used to hear the word eczema all the time and not really pay much attention. I always thought it was a condition that could easily be solved by moisturizing.

Unfortunately, it's a common word heard around my house now and it's definitely not due to lack of moisturizing.

Joseph has a severe case. It's ridiculous how bad it can get and it makes him absolutely miserable. After looking at all the different causes of eczema, we've determined that his is due to extreme heat and extreme cold. This makes like that much more difficult since we get both extremes living in Canada.

 photo DSCN5089_zpsa2ba8bb3.jpg

This winter, with the freezing cold temperatures we've gotten, his eczema is literally out of control. The worst part is that it's everywhere! His face, hands, legs and arms. He spends good chunks of time scratching but I don't think he even realizes.

I was given the chance to try the POLYSPORIN® Eczema EssentialsTM line of products. It contains a body wash, daily moisturizing cream and anti-itch cream.

We tried the body wash in the bathtub since it seems to really flare up after bath time. It appeared to work since his face wasn't as bright red as it usually is when he comes out of the bath. I also put the moisturizing cream on everywhere and the anti-itch cream on his face (because he told me it was "really scratchy").

So far, we've found that all three together have started to help ease his eczema. We have another big test coming up this week as the temperatures around here drop again and even his exposure walking from the car into the house can cause a flare up.

The other important thing is that they are affordable and aren't prescription meaning, you don't have to go see a doctor to use the products. We have prescription cream for Joseph, but it just to harsh to be using on a daily basis.

I'm glad we've found something that can help. While it might not take it away completely (because it is really severe), it has definitely helped and his scratching throughout the day isn't as often.

I can't wait for the warmer weather to come so that his flare ups don't happen as often. Until then, the poor kid will be moisturized, bathed and creamed in POLYSPORIN® Eczema EssentialsTM.

Do you know someone who suffers from eczema?
What have they tried?
