Favourite Kids Books

Joseph loves reading which is fantastic because I love reading. I could spend all day in the bookstore and library and one of the things I'm looking forward to doing once I go back to work is to read to my students. I've already set a goal to read at least one book a day to them and we're going to create a caterpillar, keep track of all the books we read and see how long the caterpillar gets.

One of my favourites (and Joseph's) is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It's a classic! There's also so much to discuss from it (sorry, teacher talking). Joseph loves to list all the foods that the caterpillar eats and I love listening to it (mostly because things aren't pronounced properly). I'm trying to decide if I want to use this as a theme for Andrew's first birthday party or not.

Another favourite is If you Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff. I love all the books in this series. I think it's funny seeing all the different things the animals want to do based on what they are given.

The last series of books that I really enjoy reading to my students is the Scaredy Squirrel series by Melanie Watt.
Scaredy Squirrel is scared of pretty much everything and rarely comes down from his tree. When he gets really scared, he plays dead. Melanie Watt writes some fantastic books including Chester and the kids get a kick out of the things Scaredy Squirrel does to stay safe in his tree.
I'm linking up over a Kelly's Korner, where others are sharing their favourite kids books.
