Tomorrow, The Husband, the boys and I will be heading to church. It will be the first time we've gone to church for regular mass in many, many years.
Our new church during a previous Easter
When I was younger, I loved going to church. The main reason was Sunday school and orange drink from McDonalds. As I got too old for Sunday school, I started to dislike it. Then we started to get away from it when I started racing while skiing in the winters and softball/baseball tournaments took over in the summers and we became one of those families that only went during the holidays.
In high school, part of our requirements was to attend chapel before school every morning. Attendance was taken and if you weren't there you got in trouble. I loved chapel so I never ran into that problem. The best part was the singing. I love hymns.
High school Chapel
The main reason we are heading back to church is the boys. There are so many positive aspects to being a part of a church that I feel are important to pass onto my kids. The community, the teachings, the character lessons. We want to get them baptized as well. So in order to do this we need to attend church.
However, I still have apprehensions about going to church every weekend.
I don't feel as though I need to be in church to hold the beliefs that I do. There are many parts of the Catholic religion that I personally don't think rings true anymore but that's fine, because I don't feel as though I have to believe everything I'm told or read.
I'm know I'm going to get that guilty feeling if we don't make it every weekend, but it is difficult with two little boys, especially when one doesn't sleep through the night (we're exhausted) or sit in his car seat without crying and the other can't sit still.
I'm not going to start adding Bible verses to my blog or preaching about my beliefs or Catholicism so please don't stop visiting. It's more about my insecurities about joining a faith again.
Oh, and I want to apologize for my lack of posts this week!
I've spent my days clearing out the clutter. Even The Husband is impressed with my work. I haven't had many breaks throughout the day, but I have one tonight so I'm taking advantage!
I hope you all have a great weekend!
