I mentioned yesterday during my Yummi Pouch post (enter the giveaway for 6 pouches) that I made some applesauce to put into the pouches for J.
It was so scrumdiddlyumptious and something that I had been wanting to make for a long time! We didn't make it apple picking this year (because a little boy was 6 days late) but I'm already setting out my 'apple plan' for next years apples and this is on my list.

I used the recipe from Skinnytaste (love it!) as a basis and adjusted it to what I had in the cupboard.
8-9 apples of all different sorts
5 tsps of brown sugar
1 1/2 tsps of lemon juice
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
Peel, core and slice up apples (you don't have to peel them though). Place in slow cooker with lemon juice and brown sugar. Set slow cooker to cook for 6 hours. Walk away (for 6 hours). The apples will brown and turn to mush, it's perfectly alright.
Once the 6 hours is up, use an immersion blender to make it nice and smooth. Add in the ground cinnamon and stir it up!

Then eat!
This makes about 3-4 cups of applesauce so if you want more double the ingredients. It tastes exactly like an apple cinnamon crisp.
