I finally get to continue my cake decorating courses at Michaels.
If you remember, I started taking them in August but with A schedule to arrive in September I didn't want to chance it and I figured leaving The Husband with a newborn and a toddler for almost 3 hours so soon after the baby was born was just mean. Therefore, I waited until November.
I ensured that I signed up with the same instructors I had last time. She's very relaxed and its a very friendly, learning conducive environment.
The course is called Flowers and Cake Design so last night, we started discussing colour choices and we used gum paste and fondant to make some simple flowers.
Here are the ones I made:
My scary looking pansy!
My pansy did not turn out well because I was trying to do the steps while she was teaching the. Lesson learned - listen to the instructions, then do the work!
I'm really excited to start using different icing, but I must admit, the way she was talking about it yesterday, she scared the crap out of me. I'm totally worried that I'm going to screw it up.
I need to start practicing some of these techniques but I know that involves baking cake or cupcakes which is the opposite of what I'm trying to do with my weight loss.
My mom went and bought a ton of supplies and told me that I'm now responsible for making all of the cakes for family parties, birthdays and celebrations and really I'm alright with that! My sister's birthday is coming up soon and J's birthday plans are already in the works (think tailgating).
I'm really excited to show you what the last product will be in 3 more weeks!
