My Final Cake!

Wednesday marked the last day of my cake decorating class.
For Monday's class we had to bring in undecorated cupcakes (aren't those just muffins?) as well as our different icings. My Dad took the weekend to eat all of my Mom's icing so we had to share what I had left.
Here's my sad attempt at a flower. We didn't use the right icing consistency for the leaves but I think it turned out alright. I'd prefer to use these as a "shaggy monster" which is what my instructor recommended. I think a big orange shaggy monster would be cute!

Wednesday's class we had to arrive with an iced cake as well as any decorations we wanted to use minus roses which is what we learned that night (as well as the writing). I iced my cake but on my way out the door it fell, shifted and ruined some of the icing. Luckily, the instructor helped me fix it up so it looked good as new!

I really enjoyed making these "drop" flowers so I made a huge bunch in pink, purple and blue.

Here are some pictures of my final cake. I decided to write Happy Birthday on the cake then realized I was left with a large empty space. Therefore, I decided to put my sister's name on it as her birthday on Friday. I dropped it off to her on Thursday and she really liked it.

I need to keep practicing and taking more courses but I think I'm well on my way! I was planning on taking course 2 in August, but it's all full so I'm going to wait until November when things have settled with the new baby and I need to get out of the house!

What do you think? Do you think I have a future in cakes?
