To those of you that read my blog...

I'm sorry!

I want to apologize to all of you that read my blog. I have been a bad blogger. I've been absent for a few days and I admit my last few weeks have been slightly sparse and highly predictable with my posts. Things have just gotten hectic with teaching and taking care of Monkey (who is almost 14 months!!).

I also have some news to share, but that won't come for another week or two, once things settle down.

For now, all I can ask is that you hang in there with me. I'm going to try to step it up and keep up with my blog and my posting. I'm hoping to do some crafting this weekend so I'll post them as I go!

Thanks for reading and I really do appreciate you reading my blog (and commenting too)!

Perpetual Pinners Hop - Home Edition

At some point this year, we're planning on moving. We're already cleaning up and beginning to organize our house in order to put it on the market. Since on Mondays I join the Perpetual Pinners Blog Hop, I decided to use this past week to look at some home inspirations for our new home that we'll hopefully move into soon. Take a look!
My dream laundry room. I want this soo bad! It's much nicer than heading into the dungy basement to do laundry.

Home organization. This blog is full of them! It's amazing!
Backyard inspiration. I wish it was nice 12 months out of the year in order to sit in a backyard like this, but I'll definitely take advantage of the few months of nice weather we have!
A nice, quaint little bathroom. This would be the main floor bathroom for sure. Nice and simple.

There they are. I'm definitely going to be hitting up the decorating websites and Pinterest boards to get more inspiration.

Where is your favourite place to get home decorating tips/inspiration?! I need some help!

TAT: The Husband and Monkey

Today's post is highlighting The Husband's and Monkey's relationship. I love watching them together, they are so cute! Monkey just completely gravitates to him when The Husband gets in from work and on weekends, I literally become chopped liver.

I remember when we first found out we were pregnant, The Husband had rarely held a baby before and had never changed a diaper. He had some idea of what was to come but didn't know too much (to be honest, looking back, I had no clue either). However, the moment Monkey was born, you could see how much he loved his little boy.

Snuggling the day we brought Monkey home from the hospital.

Touring the Grand Canyon together.

Ploughing the fields (just joking). Riding the play tractor at the farm.

Getting ready to go on one of their many walks/runs/wagon rides.

They definitely have a special bond and I can't wait to see how it develops as Monkey gets older and The Husband gets more comfortable with being called "Dada".

Perpetual Pinners Blog Hop

It's Monday and it's a holiday! Today, in a couple of provinces in Canada, it's Family Day! So I'm taking the opportunity to spend some more time with my family. Despite the fact that it's technically winter, the weather has been gorgeous and we're going to take Monkey out for a walk in his wagon later today. He's gotten to the point where he even pulls out his snowsuit for us to put on.
Anyway, I want to show you some of my recent (and not so recent pins). I'm linking up with Nykki over at Another Day in Paradise for the Perpectual Pinners Party. Come link up!

52 Books in 52 Weeks: Bossypants by Tina Fey

I'm doing really well with my 52 Books in 52 Weeks challenge. I'm surprised I'm keeping up as much as I am, but I read during my lunch period (which gives me a good break from teaching and stressing about teaching) and before I go to bed. I find myself taking opportunities to read often, which is something I got away from and looking back, wished I hadn't.

The book I just finished was Bossypants by Tina Fey. I'd seen the book a couple times on shelves and thought "Ya, she's a funny lady, but it probably doesn't transfer well to a book". Boy, was I wrong! This book was hilarious and extremely interesting!

It is mostly about her career on SNL and the development of 30 Rock, but there are also some gems from her life outside of TV and comedy.

My favourite parts were definitely her breastfeeding story and the "Tits Nazis" as she called them, her story of how she became Sarah Palin on SNL and her prayer for her daughter at the end of the book.

It was a quick easy read and honestly one book I couldn't put down. I strongly recommend this one (and thanks Meghan over at Crazy Casa K for the initial recommendation)!

I've now moved onto the highly anticipated I've Got Your Number by Sophia Kinsella. I've been waiting a long time for this book to come out. I've loved all of her other stories and am really looking forward to reading it!

January Babies' Birthday Party

I've most likely mentioned this before, but I am a part of a group of ladies that I met on the Bump who migrated over to Facebook. All of our babies were due in January 2011 (some arrived slightly earlier, some later). We're spread all over the U.S. and Canada and it's been a great help as I try to figure out what to do with Monkey. There's no question they won't answer.

A lot of the other ladies have get togethers with the other ladies in certain States or areas. The mommies that live in the same province as my family, decided to have a 1st birthday get together for our little ones.

So, on February 4th, we had our first get together and celebrated their birthdays at Chuck E. Cheese. I really didn't know what to expect considering I hadn't been there for a few years and the kids were only turning 1 but it turned out really well.

Each kid got a big Chuck E. Cheese balloon, a medallion, a blow-up crown and a bunch of tokens. Some of them also thoroughly enjoyed the cake!

We're already looking at having another one later on the summer, but it'll be more of a BBQ/pot luck thing. Nonetheless, I'm excited to see these ladies again!

Not really sure what to do

Quiet Book Project Update

I've finally finished my report cards to get handed in and read over by the principal, so now I can get back to focusing on Monkey's Quiet Book.
Look how excited he is!

Here are the pages I'm going to create:

Match the alphabet
Match the colours
Match the numbers
Peek-a-book house
Apple Tree
Mr. Potato Head
Magnetic fishing
Ice cream cone & Truck

This weekend, I'm going to sit down and plan out each page and the materials I'll need. I realize these pages are fairly easy, but Monkey is still little! I figure I'm going to make different versions as he gets bigger. As he gets older I can make the pages more difficult but for now we're focusing on easier!

So, what do you think!? I'll update next week with how it's going.
